Herbs for Heart

Our heart works 24×7 tirelessly to maintain your health. But we make things difficult for it by adopting unhealthy high calorie diet and a sedentary lifestyle. Our heart then start working twice and three times more than its capacity and wears out quickly. So you will be left with a whole lot of Cardiovascular problems.

All your heart requires after all day’s hard work is a little co-operation in terms of a healthy diet and physical activity. A high fiber, high potassium and low sodium diet that comprises of fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains and legumes instead of sticky, oily fatty foods, colas, coffees, alcohol etc. And thirty minutes of walking, swimming, dancing as a part of your daily routine.

In addition to this, you can incorporate a few herbs to strengthen your efforts to combat cardiovascular disease.

Hawthorn

Clinical trials have shown that Hawthorn strengthens the heart, lowers blood pressure and dilates blood vessels. It is a powerful anti oxidant that helps the body get rid of free radicals. It helps our body to make proper use of Vitamin C in order to strengthen capillaries. Stronger capillaries and dilated blood vessels improve blood circulation helping in proper oxygenation of the body.

Garlic

Coronary Artery disease causes hardening of arteries. The cholesterol and fat gets deposited in the inner walls of the arteries. Garlic is very good for the treatment of hardening of arteries. Garlic decreases serum cholesterol levels by 10 percent. You should add at least one clove of garlic in your diet to reap most of its benefits.

Gingko

Gingko biloba is very powerful in treating cerebovascular disease. Clinical trials have shown that use of Gingko causes dilation of blood flow in arteries, veins and capillaries. They also inhibit platelet aggregation, protect the vascular walls from free radical damage with anti-oxidant and reduces blood clotting.

Capsicum

Capsicum is very effective against clot formation. It helps greatly in reducing stickiness in platelets. It is also very effective in lowering cholesterol and helps its elimination through feces. Capsicum also acts as a pain killer. An ingredient called Cayenne in Capsicum decreases pain transmitters in sensory nerves. Cayenne also improves blood circulation on external application.

Motherwort

Motherwort is a very good heart tonic. It is often given for hypertension, palpitations, correct heart irregularity and also to strengthen it. It is also a very good sedative and nervine.

Ginger

One of the reasons for the development of heart problems is the presence of fibrin in blood. It is a fibrous protein that has lacy filaments like spider’s web. Fibrin causes the platelets, white cells and red cells to entangle themselves in its filaments causing clots.

Ginger –

dissolves fibrin and prevents clotting. It is very good for people who have had varicose veins, stroke, atherosclerosis and thrombophlebitis.
