Dark skin may be a bane for those who crave for fair complexion. Although many people have dark skin naturally; this is because of hyper pigmentation and several other causes. A dusky skin has an excess amount of a skin pigment called the Melanin compared to fair skin. An increase in the melanin quantity causes skin to look patch and dark. CAUSES OF DARK SKIN:
The common causes for darkening of the skin color are as follows.
In this, the skin produces excess melanin. This results in the skin becoming more darker.
Often, people with dark skin have children with dark skin too. Genes pass from one generation to next generation.
Skin disorders like Lichen Simplex Chronicus cause severe itching which makes the skin dark, patchy and thick.
Exposing skin to sun rays causes tanning of skin. To protect itself from harmful Ultra Violet rays, skin produces more Melanin that shields the skin from harmful UV rays.
HERBAL REMEDIES FOR GLOWING SKIN:
The following are some of the natural remedies to reduce skin tanning:
Slice the raw potato and place the slices on the face. This reduces the blemishes and other marks.
Dry the orange peel and mix it with yogurt. Apply the paste on the face and leave it for 15 minutes. Rinse with cold water. This reduces the scars and blemishes.
Mix turmeric powder with lemon juice. Apply it on the face and leave it to dry. This removes the tan.
Mix oatmeal, yogurt and tomato juice. Apply it on the face and leave it for 20 minutes. Rinse with cold water. This remedy removes the tan and also lightens the skin.
Make a paste with 2 tablespoons of raw milk, 1 tablespoon of gram flour and 2 3 drops of lemon juice. Apply the paste and leave the mixture for 15 minutes. This is an excellent remedy for lightening the dark skin. Repeat the same for 4 weeks and then follow up with once in a week.
