Bran, gums and mucilages are kinds of dietary fibers. These dietary fibers remove toxic metals from the body. Bran is much higher in dietary fibers, which is also a good source of protein. Both mucilages and gums help in regulation of blood glucose level and lowering the cholesterol level of blood.
Gums and mucilages are the major constituents of herbal medication. Gums and mucilages are present in oat bran, oatmeal, dried beans and sesame seeds. Guar gum –
- It is extracted from guar plant seeds.
