Freeze Basil

As basil is a delicate leaf, it can be ruined easily. People should be cautious to make best use from the leaves. The first and best method that many herbalists suggest is to place basil in the ice cubes. This can be done by taking 1 tablespoon of basil and adding it to the water in the ice cube trays.

Freezing can be done to as many leaves as possible. When people wish to use the basil leaves, remove from the leaves from ice cube tray and add it to the dishes. Water evaporates and the fresh taste of the leaves spices up the recipe. This is good for homemade spaghetti sauce.

Other popular method to store basil is to throw leaves in the food processor by adding little oil and make thick paste. This paste can be used to spice up the recipe. Store this paste by putting it in zip lock freezer bag and laying it flat in freezer.

When people wish to add the basil paste to the recipe they can break the paste into pieces and can add to the dish. This can be added to some dishes like sauce, salad or soup dressings. This is one of the best ways to use pesto. Basil can also be added to the meals by just removing it from the oil.

The basic method for basil freezing is just placing the basil leaves on the cookies sheet and then placing it in the freezer. Once the leaves are frozen completely, take the leaves and put the leaves in a zip lock freezer bag. Freezing basil is the great way to preserve the leaves for winter season.
