Herbs that Best Work for Athlete’s Foot

Athlete’s foot is a common fungal skin infection that usually occurs between the toes. Treating it with herbal remedies is a best treatment option which gives effective and safe results. Here is a list of some herbs that best work for athlete’s foot.

Garlic
Various studies have found garlic to be an effective treatment for athlete’s foot and other fungal infections.

Soak your feet in a tub of warm water smeared with 4/5 garlic cloves to relieve burning and itching sensations. Steep garlic in olive oil and apply on the affected area twice daily or crush 4/5 garlic cloves and rub on your feet twice a day.

Ginger
Ginger contains caprylic acid, a compound that has potent antifungal properties. Put a small portion of ginger root in a cup of boiling water and apply it on your feet twice daily.

Tea Tree Oil
Tea tree oil contains essential antiseptic and anti-fungal properties that effectively treat athlete’s foot. You can dilute this oil with a base oil or directly rub the oil on the affected area twice daily.

Camomile Oil (Chamomile Oil)
Camomile oil has potent antiseptic, anti-allergic and anti-inflammatory properties and is a best treatment for athlete’s foot. You can use the oil or dilute it in tea tree oil and apply on the affected area. Some people are allergic to chamomile oil, so test a drop of oil on your arm before using it on your feet.

Licorice
This herb contains the highest number of antifungal compounds than any other herb. Add few licorice in your garlic foot bath or you can boil 5 to 6 teaspoonful of dried licorice and use it on the affected area.

Goldenseal
Goldenseal contains antibacterial and antifungal properties that best treats athlete’s foot. Add 5 to 6 teaspoons of goldenseal to a cup of boiling water, boil it for 10 minutes and apply it with a cotton ball twice a day.

Sesame oil
Rub gently few drops of sesame oil on your feet twice a day. It is one of the best herbal remedy for treating athlete’s foot.

Aloe vera
Mix aloe vera gel and turmeric and apply twice a day.

Onion
Apply onion juice on the affected area. It acts as an effective herbal remedy for athlete’s foot.
