Damages on the skin caused by fire, heat from physical or chemical combustion or due to the effects of electrical shocks are known as burns . Most burns heal easily, and are quite normal and most often take place at home, however there may be serious burns that require long periods of hospitalization and therapy.
Herbs for remedy
There is almost nothing that herbs cannot cure. Here are some tips to soothe burns and scalds through herbs:
- As soon as you suffer a burn, break or cut off an outer leaf of an Aloe plant, split it open with your fingernails, and squeeze the leaf gel onto the burn. This will prevent the burn from getting worse, by acting as a first aid.
- Lavender comes in handy for burns, bug bites, and most common skin irritations.
- Both green and black teas are rich in antioxidants and cooling to sunburns. Just apply a wet, cool tea bag to a burn.
- Vinegar is a trusted remedy for centuries in case of sunburn. Dilute it with an equal amount of water and sprinkle over mild burns. You can also put a cup of vinegar in a tub of tepid water and soak in it. Any kind of vinegar works, but apple cider vinegar is best.
- Never put butter or vegetable oils on a burn, this just keeps the heat in. Burns should be covered by a compress, but if you don’t have anything clean, its best not to use anything at all.
